It should be noted that TMIII and TM4 are not canon with the rest of the TM games. He then takes over the mantle of granting the winner of the competition a single wish, regardless of price, size or even reality.

The game's plot centers on Sweet Tooth, the long-time mascot of the titular Twisted Metal competition, overthrowing Calypso, the mysterious organizer of the competition, in a coup d'etat. TM4 is the fourth installment in the Twisted Metal series and the second and last installment to be developed by 989 Studios.

The game was released in North America in 1999 and was re-released for the Sony Greatest Hits line-up in 2000. The goal of the game is, of course, to stay last alive, ie "Last man standing". Most arenas represent well-known cities such as New York, Paris or Moscow. There is a wide range of vehicles to choose from with different characteristics, each with one unique weapon at its disposal. The arenas are small enough and the encounter of opponents is aimed at the effective and complete destruction of the enemy. However, the Twisted Metal series differs from Carmageddon in one atmospheric function - it is much closer to Deathmatch than any other similar game. The essence is the same - a large (or not), a tooth-armed car, an arena and a number of contenders for the main prize. While the whole world enthusiastically knocked down pedestrians in Carmageddon, somewhere in the background, the very original and cute Twisted Metal project disappeared, but it absolutely deserved attention.
